ROAD TO BORMIO<\/h2>\n

Nine-year-old Norfolk skier Henry Hale is heading for the Alps for the English Alpine Championship.<\/p>\n

Henry and his family began their journey in the Grenadier leaving our Attleborough basecamp, Thursday 1st of February.<\/p>\n

After travelling 1,310km, Henry officially made it to the Alps.<\/p>\n

Exciting pit stops along the way included the abandoned motor circuit in Reims and a visit to the home of the Grenadier in Hambach.<\/p>\n[\/spb_text_block] [blank_spacer height=”30px” width=”1\/1″ el_position=”first last”] [spb_text_block pb_margin_bottom=”no” pb_border_bottom=”no” width=”1\/2″ el_position=”first”]\n

TRAINING WITH UNIQ SNOWSPORTS<\/h2>\n

Unbelievably, this was Henry’s first time skiing in the mountains!<\/p>\n

In the build up to the competition, he took every chance to test the slopes before the start of the championship on the Saturday.<\/p>\n

Training with UNIQ Snowsports, he soon felt at home in the Alps.<\/p>\n[\/spb_text_block] [spb_text_block pb_margin_bottom=”no” pb_border_bottom=”no” width=”1\/2″ el_position=”last”]\n

FIRST RACE<\/h2>\n

Henry loved his first Giant Slalom race!<\/p>\n

The course was tricky, and conditions were challenging, but he still managed to bag a time.<\/p>\n[\/spb_text_block] [blank_spacer height=”30px” width=”1\/1″ el_position=”first last”] [spb_text_block pb_margin_bottom=”no” pb_border_bottom=”no” width=”1\/2″ el_position=”first”]\n

PARALLEL SLALOM<\/h2>\n

Henry had another great race in the parallel slalom. Unfortunately, he didn’t get into the knockout stage but still posted a respectable time to finish 18th.<\/p>\n

FINAL RACE WITH ONE SKI<\/h2>\n

Henry has officially completed his first English Alpine Championship!<\/p>\n

His final race was one to remember. After clipping the first stubbie, Henry lost one of his skis! That didn’t stop him though, he powered through and managed to complete the course with just one ski!<\/p>\n
