The second phase of Busseys’ tree planting initiative took place on March 1st at Austin’s Wood near South Walsham. Over 400 trees were planted in the 7.5acre site, which will eventually become community woodland.
Busseys Marketing Manager, Stuart Kirby was overwhelmed by the response from Busseys customers who were invited to come and plant their tree at Austin’s Wood: “This project is a great achievement, not only from Busseys point of view but also for our customers. The woodlands planted will help the environment not only to reduce our carbon footprint but it also assists with biodiversity, creating habitats for wildlife. And aside from the positive impact it has on the local environmental the woodlands will become somewhere for generations to come to enjoy.”
Busseys tree planting initiative is in conjunction with Norfolk County Council and the Woodland Trust, it has been running since March 2007 and the grand total of trees planted so far is 1814. This is just one of many different environmental initiatives that Busseys have implemented to help reducing their and their customers’ carbon footprints and improve the local environment.
When it comes to driving down carbon emissions, Busseys like to think they are taking a step in the right direction |
